Geek Strength Labs - Reinvent your physique.
What is Old School Strength training?
Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, atlas stones, sand bags, gymnastic rings, kegs, tires, sledgehammers, bodyweight exercises, the key total body barbell exercises, basic gymnastic movements, etc.  And NO MACHINES.  It's a great way to train, and it works!
At Geek Strength we believe that the best form follows function, not the other way around.  Like the strongmen of times past, we are interested in cultivating STRENGTH, rather than only the APPEARANCE OF STRENGTH.
Modern gyms focus on appearance to a fault, lining the walls with mirrors, and using a huge variety of machines to pad, constrain, and support the body while attempting to isolate muscles for cosmetic "pump" training.  The result is weakness in key portions of the body not viewable in the mirror, uncoordinated movement, and strength gain so limited and untransferable to real life that it hardly deserves to be called strength training.
The promulgation of machines in modern gyms is the result of a high-capital, low-concept business model.  It is designed around the assumption that most gym members will not actually train, and when they do, they will train by themselves, with zero coaching.
Geek Strength takes the opposite approach.  Every time you train, you will build real strength and skill, transferable to real life, with expert coaching that will ensure that your training gives you RESULTS that you will see and feel in the first few weeks of training.  You will LOOK STRONG, FEEL STRONG, and BE STRONG.

Jon is certified in Josh Henkin's Loaded Integrated Functional Training (L.I.F.T.) methods, using sandbags and other tools to create training effects not possible with barbells alone.
